Magnesium Chloride is a certain type of salt that is a combination of both chloride and magnesium. Magnesium chloride is our favorite topical solution. Ours is made as a topical spray that is very gentle and applicable to most skin types. It contains biodynamic Hydrosols that are soothing and aromatic. Mag Chloride is known as MgCI2, which means it contains one magnesium atom and two chloride atoms. Most chloride is obtained by solar evaporation using seawater.

Mg Chloride has a high water solubility, which means it is better absorbed in the gut compared to lesser forms such as oxide, citrate, etc. Magnesium Chloride has a much higher bioavailability compared to other forms (Bicarbonate being arguably the Highest, some sources disagree). In other words, it is very easily absorbed and utilized by the body. Mg Chloride also comes with 72 trace minerals from seawater, which can aid in the magnesium being absorbed more efficiently.

Mg Chloride is an excellent option to use as a topical application, either sprayed directly on the skin (20-100x daily or a few times a week), used in a hot bath, or even a foot soak.

Magnesium Chloride can actually be used to counteract a decline in stomach acid production/secretion in the stomach. When applied topically, magnesium chloride is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. This makes it an ideal option for those who experience digestive issues and/or do not like taking oral supplements. The chloride anion is considered to be a strong acid load, which interferes with our body’s natural PH buffering systems.

Magnesium chloride only has 35% bioavailability for the magnesium cation and 99% for the chloride anion, and this disparity accounts for the acid load it puts on the body. We do not recommend taking high doses of magnesium chloride orally. For this reason, we just believe there are much better forms of magnesium to be supplemented orally. Stick to topical application, baths, and foot baths. It is much safer this way, and also consume magnesium bicarbonate internally, which will naturally enhance our body’s ability to buffer acids. Our kidneys help control acid-base balance by excreting hydrogen ions and generating bicarbonate that helps maintain blood plasma pH within a normal range, so consuming magnesium bicarbonate will greatly relax our kidneys, and obviously our entire body for that matter.

When taking or starting our magnesium and shilajit products, we always recommend using them in combination with our Free Posture Performance Routine. We go into detail on certain movements and recovery tools that help get our stagnant lymphatic system moving properly.
